The Evolution of Food

(a collection of 3 frying pans with different sizes)
The idea of the artwork originally came from the food chain and human evolution. Just like other species, humans need food to survive. As the smartest creature on Earth, our kind has been creatively processed and prepared multiple types of food, using different supplies and ingredients. They go from vegetables to animals, continuously invent new techniques and methods to make them taste better. "I chose frying pans with three different sizes, from small to big, in order to represent how far humans can go with their appetites. The smallest pan shows the vegetables, which is considered to be the healthiest and also the bottom of the food chain. The next pan is fish representing animals, very common meat that humans eat in their daily life. Finally, the last pan depicts humorously yet creepily the furthest that humans can go with food, which is eating their own species. This is not only a taboo but also the worst crimes of our society. However, as I go on with the research, it has been around since humans exist on Earth. It starts from starvation, hatred and only with deceased humans but now there are people who want to eat another just to try a new taste of meat. Moreover, a frying pan is also a tool that was invented by humans to prepare their food, which makes it an ironic metaphor for the content of these still-life paintings."

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
