In "The Banquet: A Feast for All", I use the metaphor of a three-course banquet, including the Appetizer, the Main Dish and the Dessert, to explore the complex dynamics of societal expectations, cultural perceptions, and the human experience. Through the depiction of my own body, I question the viewers' preconceived notions surrounding the body and identity, highlighting the clash between tradition and novelty, familiarity and exoticism, and confronting the limitations of biases.
Appetizer — a decorated platter served at the beginning of a feast to stimulate the appetite — temporarily satisfying but ultimately leaving one hungry for more. A dish that never fulfils. My cultural background, birthplace, familial influences, educational institutions and so on collectively impose constraints, dictating my actions and aspirations. Each entity demands conformity, shaping me into their desired mould but oblivious to the pain they inflict on me.
