After the Bleed

A mixed media piece created with toilet paper, acrylic paint, glitter and gloss medium on 3 canvases. A series of organic shapes that are representing conflicted feelings during healing from a broken heart. The choice of material, toilet paper, is inspired by personal experience with love. They were placed in the center of three canvases and poured over with anger, angst, and aggression through red, black and white paints, forming an abstract organic crusty look of the scabs. Finally, gloss and glitter were used to enhance the shining and glittering effect. "The artwork was made at the time when I was stuck between my willingness to moving on and the longingness of running back to the old love. I kept trying to hold myself from the temptation of getting in touch with him again. It was tough like the resistance of picking at the itchiness of the scabs that have just formed over a wound of a broken heart during healing. Yet, I knew that if I “ripped my skin off”, I would bleed again. In the end, it would only take longer to heal and the scar in my heart would only be bigger." - Meera.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
